Feet first into Santiago: El Camino del Norte on recumbent bicycles

From the 6th to the 22nd of July 2016 we cycled 893 kilometres from Bayonne to Santiago de Compostela, following mostly the northern way or camino del norte (with a few variations). Here we share some of our experiences and some tips that we hope may be useful for other people wanting to cycle in the north of Spain. We did not follow the actual signposted Santiago way, as with our heavily loaded touring recumbents (about 30 kg of luggage each) it would have been too tough. We usually followed the closest roads. Cante Alentejano no restaurante

Em Serpa a calma era rainha na vila. As poucas lojas no centro histórico vendiam manjares de rei (queijos, queijadas, pão, porco preto…). Deambulamos várias horas antes de poisar a tenda no parque de campismo. Para jantar decidimos por um pequeno restaurante local (O Engrola). Tão local que ao final da refeição proprietário e outros clientes se puseram a cantar cante alentejano. Aqui está a gravação:

Récit de l’étape de Lisbonne à Quarteira (du 7 au 14.9.2016)

Il est toujours difficile de repartir après une pause. On aurait encore pu faire tant de choses à Lisbonne… ça attendra une prochaine fois. Nous repoussons notre départ d’un jour à cause de la chaleur – 40° la journée et presque 30° la nuit ne nous inspirent pas à pédaler. Mais aujourd’hui c’est reparti.
